Nathaniel Gerrard was bound as an apprentice by his father to the saddling business, from which
he ran away about 1796 when he was 16 to 17 years old. About 1807 he and Susannah moved to
Montgomery Co. Kentucky, before moving in 1811-1812 to Switzerland Co. Indiana. Here they were
among the earliest members of the Long Run Baptist Church. On September 28, 1832 they sold
their land and moved to Decatur Co. Indiana. Selling their land in Decatur Co. in 1840 they
moved north to Marshall Co., Indiana where they lived the remainder of their lives.
